It was a season that drifted from one version of mediocrity to another but at the very least it didn’t cost Reading their Championship status.

Rounding up the 2017/18 campaign with a look across what signs we missed in pre-season, the key turning points, the false revivals and more, are Marc Mayo and Simeon ‘BucksRoyal’ Pickup, in episode 161 of The Tilehurst End Podcast.

A huge thank you to all who continue to listen to the show amid some poor football and a change of presenter this season. We’ll endeavour to be back in one form or another come the 2018/19 push for promotion. Cmon Urz!

Saturday sees Reading FC Women play their final home game of the season against Liverpool at the Madejski Stadium from 14:00 and, with the campaign having gone rather well to this point, TTE thought it was time to focus in on how the side are getting on.

Ahead of the match, Marc went down to their training session to talk to England internationals and Royals midfielders Fara Williams and Jo Potter, talking all things Reading, growth in the women’s game and more.

Also popping onto the show is Reading fan Paula Martin, who kindly gave her perspective of the season from the Adams Park terraces.

Podcast Extra - May 4

So it has come down to the final day. On this week's Podcast Extra, Olly and Tom look ahead to a crucial last weekend of action in the Championship as Reading travel to Cardiff hoping to secure their safety. In addition, the 4-0 defeat to Ipswich cannot go undiscussed, whilst the Royals' official player of the season was also announced last weekend.

00:0000:00

It really was that bad. Reading lost 4-0 to Ipswich Town to round off a season in which the Royals will sit in the bottom three when it comes to home form, and still maybe overall too.

Marc Mayo and Dave ‘Handbags’ Harris put on their bravest faces and provide you with grim reflections of what happened to Paul Clement’s team on Saturday, analysing how the side collapsed with four goals conceded in the final 20 minutes.

News of the youth and women’s team provide a few reasons to smile, and we also trawl through your questions in the mailbag before previewing the season ending trip to Cardiff.

Podcast Extra - April 19

With no midweek game, the 2-2 draw with Sunderland is top of the agenda on this week’s Podcast Extra, which also features more discussion on the South Stand initiative, the success of Reading Women and an in-depth preview to Saturday’s trip to Sheffield Wednesday.

00:0000:00

Edging slowly towards safety, Reading have reverted to something of their former selves under Paul Clement, almost like the team that started the season; good in defence, poor in attack.

Breaking down exactly how the Royals are playing with the new boss now five games into his tenure, and still unbeaten at home, Marc and Dave ‘Handbags’ Harris discuss the 2-2 draw at Sunderland, answer your questions in the mailbag, and preview the trip to Sheffield Wednesday.

We also provide an update on the new South Stand singing section being trialled with Handbags revealing where the project goes from here.

For the midweek game at Fulham, Johnny Hunt of our Hunty’s Column fame walked from Berkshire to West London for suicide prevention charity CALM and you can read his story and donate here.

Podcast Extra - April 12

A narrow 1-0 defeat at Fulham was better than what most fans expected at Craven Cottage, with Olly and Tom also surprised that the Whites' goal count wasn't more. The pair also discuss the impressive form of Liam Moore and Tiago Ilori, predict how the relegation battle may pan out and look ahead to a big game on Saturday against Sunderland.
