Olly Allen is joined by Will Jones for this fourth and final podcast in our Decade in Review series, as our Team of the Decade is analysed alongside the definitive Reading moments from the last ten years. The show is then rounded off with a discussion on the next decade - covering the academy, ownership and whether the club will be in League One before they’re back in the Premier League...

As we move towards more recent times in our Decade in Review podcast series, it doesn’t become any easier to discuss. Regular podcast host Marc Mayo joins Olly Allen for this episode, looking at Reading’s fortunes after the play-off final defeat in 2017.

Jaap Stam’s demise, Paul Clement’s ill-fated spell in charge and Ron Gourlay’s dreadful impact behind the scenes are all covered, as are the last 12 months that have seen Jose Gomes come and go and Mark Bowen make a positive start to life at the club.

Part two of our decade in review is here, and it’s starting to get bumpy. Olly Allen is joined by Simeon Pickup to discuss the years 2013 to 2017 - covering life back in the Championship, Reading’s off the field problems, the club’s first FA Cup semi-final in 88 years, yet more play-off agony and the fortunes of no less than four different managers.

The 2010s are nearly over, so The Tilehurst End Podcast is running a mini-series looking back at all the highs, lows and talking points from the last decade.

In part one, Olly Allen is joined by Jonny Williams to review the first three years of the decade, or what we’re calling ‘The McDermott Years’. Starting when the Slough-born manager was appointed, the pair discuss that season’s FA Cup run, getting to the play-off final in 2011, winning promotion 12 months later and struggling in the top-fight the following season. Of course plenty more is covered in between, including the importance of key players and memorable moments such as away games in Cardiff, East London and Southampton.

Keep an eye out in your podcast feeds tomorrow when part two will be released.

After 12 long months, Reading FC fans find ourselves supporting a rather different team than when 2019 began and yet hardly budged one way or the other in the lower depths of the Championship.

The Tilehurst End Podcast reviews the year with Marc Mayo joined by Dan Wimbush, Simeon Pickup and Adam Jones with our awards ceremony dishing out the gongs for the best player, most improved, the HRK underachiever as well as the golden, comedy and worst moments. Also, the guys preview what is to come in 2020.

Simon Cox was a promising upstart during the 2005/06 record-breaking Reading FC campaign and a first-teamer reduced to the bench as the club reached the FA Cup semi-finals in his second spell in Berkshire.

In amongst those massive achievements for the team, the striker has experienced the wonderful tutelage of Eamonn Dolan and the sharp treatment of Steve Clarke. He has seen the club under Sir John Madejski and the Thais, been sent out on loan multiple times and sold twice.

The Tilehurst End Podcast caught up with Simon to discuss his considerable time with Reading and hear his side of a fascinating association between a footballer and his hometown team.
