Ivar Ingimarsson’s first taste of Reading Football Club was a futile dive to stop Jamie Cureton’s goalbound effort that secured the Royals promotion to the second-tier in 2002.
Little did he know at that moment, he would be one of many Brentford men that day to join Reading and form part of a fantastic team that broke the Football League points record.

Veljko Paunovic was given the chance to meet Reading fans for the first time on Saturday - and he had specially prepared a 2-0 win for the Mad Stad faithful as 2,000 spectators were allowed to watch the game with Nottingham Forest.

When Brian Howard arrived at Reading FC, fans may have been more focused on the departure heading the other way. James Harper, a member of the famous 106 title-winning squad, left for Sheffield United and in his place came a player of a similar ilk.
Brendan Rodgers was known for his ball-carrying, technical and patient play and Howard appeared to fit the bill perfectly. And while things didn’t work out for the coach, the player enjoyed a strong spell with the club.
