The Tilehurst End Podcast Episode 185: Four Reasons To Worry
Sunday Feb 17, 2019
Sunday Feb 17, 2019
Oh, the optimism of Wednesday night. Of overcoming a staunch opponent with a quality late goal that sent the fans home happy. Perhaps Sheffield United were always the worst team to face immediately after beating Blackburn at the Mad Stad, but just 45 seconds into Saturday’s trip north, Reading fans were given their first reason to worry.
The resulting 4-0 defeat is the subject of The Tilehurst End podcast Episode 185, Marc Mayo joined by Dave ‘Handbags’ Harris to work out what Jose Gomes and his players got wrong at Brammal Lane, and what they can do to get three vital points over Rotherham on the weekend. In addition, the guys discuss Sone Aluko’s potential exit in Newsbites and answer your Mailbag questions.

Much of this week has been dominated by ‘Stampgate’, but Olly Allen and the Wokingham Paper’s Tom Crocker try to bring the focus back to footballing matters as Reading prepare to face Sheffield Wednesday in Steve Bruce’s first home game in charge at Hillsborough. The Tilehurst End Podcast Episode 183: A Duel With The Villains
Tuesday Feb 05, 2019
Tuesday Feb 05, 2019
An otherwise quiet stalemate with Aston Villa was turned into an especially newsworthy event by a single incident on Saturday afternoon, as Tyrone Mings’ stamp/clumsy fall on Nelson Oliveira sparked a huge debate which The Tilehurst End looks into in this week’s episode of the foremost Reading FC podcast.
Marc Mayo hosts and is joined by Alan ‘Westy’ West to discuss the match, what the Royals did right and wrong, and of course the refereeing performance. Also on the agenda are summing up the transfer window in Newsbites, your questions for the Mailbag, and a quick preview of next weekend’s trip to Sheffield Wednesday.

The Tilehurst End’s Deadline Day Transfer Window Reaction
Friday Feb 01, 2019
Friday Feb 01, 2019
It turned out to be an interesting deadline day for Reading FC and The Tilehurst End convened late on Thursday night to discuss all the key goings on. Wimb, Marc and Becki sat down to discuss the Royals’ transfer activity as the clock struck 11pm.
A quick apology for the varied volume/video quality in the clip, a lot of technical jiggery-pokery had to be done manually and, as John Swift said when scoring against Nottingham Forest, it’s been a while. For the pod version, we chose to cut the first five minutes where the audio was poorest.

Sunday Jan 20, 2019
Sunday Jan 20, 2019
Reading travelled back from the East Midlands with empty hands on Saturday following their 2-1 defeat to Derby County, and The Tilehurst End podcast is back to discuss exactly what went wrong at Pride Park, and whether we should be so bothered anyway.
With the Rams flying high and Jose Gomes still getting his feet under the table, Marc Mayo hosts Episode 182 of the show to debate Andy Rinomhota’s switch to right-back, the striker situation, and the coach’s general approach to such games, alongside TTE regulars Simeon ‘BucksRoyal’ Pickup and Olly Allen.
Also on the agenda is a pubchat selection of Reading’s greatest ever loanee XI, your questions in the mailbag, and a look ahead to the trio of games that await the side after the upcoming weekend break.

The Tilehurst End Podcast Episode 181: Gomes Gets Galvanising
Monday Jan 14, 2019
Monday Jan 14, 2019
Jose Gomes may have endured a couple of very wobbly moments since coming to Reading FC but Saturday’s 2-0 win at home to a disjointed Nottingham Forest served as a taster for what we hope is to come.
After the game, the Portuguese boss spoke about galvanising not just the team but the club and The Tilehurst End podcast reconvenes for Episode 181 to discuss all things from on-pitch scraps to exactly how cosy the fans can get with Senhor Gomes at this point in his tenure.
Speaking of experienced pros who fit like a warm jumper, TTE founder Dan Wimbush drops into the guest’s chair to join Marc Mayo for this week’s show, with your questions in the Mailbag, a preview of the trip to Derby, and Newsbites covering the transfer window and the Royals’ other teams on the agenda.
