The Tilehurst End Podcast Episode 180: Old Trafford & New Faces
Tuesday Jan 08, 2019
Tuesday Jan 08, 2019
It was a strange afternoon at Old Trafford as Reading FC left the FA Cup thanks to a 2-0 defeat against Manchester United, off the back of a rather confident performance.
The Tilehurst End podcast, fresh from a mention during the in-game commentary, returns with Marc and Westy picking up the pieces and working out how Jose Gomes will aim to translate that outing into points, starting against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
The January transfer window is also discussed at length in Pubchat, alongside your questions in the mailbag, as the first incoming touches down in West Berkshire amidst a swathe of exits.

When you’re on a 10-game winless run, Old Trafford is hardly the place you want to be travelling to, but Reading have to do just that in the FA Cup third round this weekend. The Tilehurst End Podcast Episode 179: Different Year, Same Crap
Tuesday Jan 01, 2019
Tuesday Jan 01, 2019
It took Reading FC just about one hundred seconds to concede their first goal of 2019 and boy did it set the tone for what was to come, as Swansea City strolled away with a 4-1 win in Jose Gomes’ first Madejski Stadium match in charge.
Following a tight 1-0 loss at Millwall and a seemingly decent point at QPR, the Royals returned home to suffer an indignant hammer blow that leaves them five points from safety in the Championship relegation places.
Marc Mayo is joined by Simeon ‘BucksRoyal’ Pickup for Episode 179 of The Tilehurst End podcast and the guys recap the Christmas period of action, check in on the other Reading teams in newsbites, answer your mailbag questions, and look ahead to a daunting FA Cup trip to Manchester United.

Player of the year... Golden Moment... Underachiever... Some awards were easier to hand out than others this year and The Tilehurst End podcast draws 2018 to a close with our usual Christmas festivities down the Hope Tap in Reading.
Pubchat in a pub saw Marc Mayo, Olly Allen, Simeon ‘BucksRoyal’ Pickup, Matt ‘PannasAndNutmegs’ Lawrence, and Jack Simpson hand out the end of year awards with eight prestigious (to varying degrees) honours up for grabs.
The crew also take a look through the past couple of weeks of match action as the Scott Marshall caretaker period appears set to end with Jose Gomes reportedly ready to step into the Mad Stad hotseat any time now.
As ever, a huge thank you to all who have listened to the podcast this year. We only put in the hours because of those willing to hear what we have to say. And, of course, our Patreon patrons deserve a massive thank you for providing us with some funds to, for example, invest in equipment to bring a higher quality sound for you all.

The Tilehurst End Weekend Preview: Sheffield United (H)
Friday Dec 07, 2018
Friday Dec 07, 2018
Whilst a podcast reacting to Paul Clement’s exit from Reading replaced our usual Weekend Preview for Saturday’s game with Sheffield United, we do have a little bit of content for you ahead of the visit of the Blades in front of the Sky cameras.
Earlier this week, Olly Allen chatted to Sheffield United fan Louis Hobbs for our View From The Town End, discussing the Yorkshire side’s season so far, Chris Wilder and the players to look out for (including a couple of former Royals). Bare in mind this was of course recorded before Clement’s sacking, so some comments may not be entirely accurate!
Enjoy!

Thursday Dec 06, 2018
Thursday morning saw confirmation that Paul Clement had left his role as manager of Reading with immediate effect, and you know what that means - an emergency podcast!
Olly Allen and the Wokingham Paper’s Tom Crocker discussed the news in depth - including whether it was the right decision, what Clement can learn from his time in Berkshire, how much influence Nigel Howe had and, most importantly, where Reading Football Club turn next.
Keeping giving us your thoughts on social media and stay tuned to The Tilehurst End throughout the coming days as the Royals’ hunt for a new manager begins!

The Tilehurst End Podcast Episode 177: Red & White Redemption
Sunday Dec 02, 2018
Sunday Dec 02, 2018
Redemption came in the form of a headed goal for Marc McNulty on Saturday as the Scot broke his Reading duck with a poacher’s effort just days after flopping from the penalty spot at Elland Road.
The Tilehurst End podcast returns this week to look at a contrasting week for the striker with the Royals picking up a point with plenty of late drama along the way. Host Marc Mayo is joined by Matt ‘PannasAndNutmegs’ Lawrence on the show to discuss the 1-0 loss to Leeds United and a 2-2 draw at home to Stoke City, as well as discuss the big news around the club, answer your questions in the mailbag, and look ahead to a live television clash with Sheffield United.
Remember, before that clash Roger Titford will be signing his book Roy Bentley’s Stationary Club in the megastore, as discussed on last week’s show. The book looks into the 1960s period of the club and is on sale for £12 at the Megastore. It’s also available via the When Saturday Comes book shop at https://shop.wsc.co.uk/books.html (postage free).

We may not have won either game, but do two fairly promising performances at Wigan and Leeds in the past week give Reading some sort of foundation to build on back at the Madejski Stadium against Stoke City this Saturday? This is the main talking point as Olly Allen and the Wokingham Paper’s Tom Crocker look ahead to the clash against the Potters, with the latest team news also on the agenda. In addition, this week’s View From The Town End comes courtesy of Stoke fan David Cowlishaw from the Wizards of Drivel podcast.
