Three months of hard work were flushed down the drain as Reading FC got off to a terrible start in the 2019/20 Championship, losing 3-1 to Sheffield Wednesday.
Jose Gomes’ tactics, decisions and selection come in for criticism on The Tilehurst End Podcast Episode 197, hosted by Marc Mayo with Alan ‘Westy’ West for company. However, there is room for perspective after the first of 46 league games this season.
The guys also talk through the Royals’ rush to get late deals over the line, with three major incomings due - one of which could cost £5million. That comes after the Mailbag with the trip to Hull the focus of Big Match Preview.

Tuesday May 07, 2019
Tuesday May 07, 2019
It was a rollercoaster season that saw Reading FC do much more than just flirt with relegation for the second year running, but the club were ultimately saved after a dreadful start.
Marc Mayo hosts The Tilehurst End podcast alongside Dan ‘Wimb’ Wimbush and Dave ‘Handbags’ Harris with Episode 195 wrapping up another non-boring season supporting the Royals. The guys review the campaign, cover the issues surrounding the club in Newsbites, answer your Mailbag questions, and have a sneak peak at 2019/20.
A huge thank you to everyone who has listened to the show this season, it’s been another year of flux at a club level and - somewhat less importantly - at a personal level and we wouldn’t be here if people didn’t want to listen in on our shenanigans.

The Tilehurst End Podcast Episode 193 - Mission Survival: Complete
Monday Apr 22, 2019
Monday Apr 22, 2019
Both Reading FC and West Brom had plenty of chances to take all three points from a boisterous Madejski Stadium on a sunny Easter Monday - but a 0-0 draw was enough to secure Jose Gomes’ men their Championship survival with two games to spare.
While not mathematically safe - Rotherham require a six-point, 13-goal swing in two games to overtake us - we can finally look ahead to next season and of course the upcoming season closers with much, much less stress. Doing so in Episode 193 of The Tilehurst End podcast are Marc Mayo and Simeon Pickup.
After recapping the Bristol and West Brom draws, the guys cover the rest of the club’s goings-on in Newsbites, answer your Mailbag questions, and preview the last away day of the season: Middlesbrough.
