The Tilehurst End Podcast Episode 176: Welcome To The Post-Gourlay Era
Sunday Nov 25, 2018
Sunday Nov 25, 2018
Anyone hoping for an instant return to the Reading FC of old was brazenly mistaken on Saturday as the Royals took to the pitch for the first time after Ron Gourlay’s resignation as CEO to draw 0-0 with Wigan Athletic.
The point keeps Paul Clement’s out of the drop zone on goal difference and TTE Podcast returns to understand how the game in Lancashire panned out, as well as discuss Gourlay’s exit in-depth, answer your questions in the mailbag, and preview Tuesday’s daunting trip to Leeds United.
An awesome front three of Simeon ‘BucksRoyal’ Pickup, Olly Allen, and Roger Titford appear on the show alongside host Marc Mayo. Roger’s latest book on the Royals, Roy Bentley’s Stationary Club is out now and he pops by to discuss it in the Pubchat section of the show.
The book is on sale for £12 at the Megastore, where there will be a signing before the Sheffield United game on December 8. It’s also available via the When Saturday Comes book shop at https://shop.wsc.co.uk/books.html (postage free).

The Tilehurst End Podcast Episode 175: Where Would We Be Without Yakou?
Tuesday Nov 13, 2018
Tuesday Nov 13, 2018
Yakou Meite led the line for Reading metaphorically and literally on Saturday with the young Ivorian’s brace earning a point in an otherwise poor 2-2 draw against Ipswich Town.
The Tilehurst End Podcast, as ever desperate to focus on the positives, returns this week to place the striker front and centre of Episode 175, working out exactly what it is that is putting Meite in this sort of form, and where he goes from here.
Marc Mayo, Simeon ‘BucksRoyal’ Pickup, and Matt ‘PannasAndNutmegs’ Lawrence sit down to review the weekend’s action while also picking through all the Royals newsbites, mailbag questions, and preview what awaits the team after the international break.
We’ll be back in a fortnight after the trip to Wigan so thanks again for sticking with us and The Tilehurst End Podcast can be taken in via PodBean, YouTube or iTunes. Furthermore, thanks to all listeners who continue to pledge to our Patreon campaign.

The Tilehurst End Podcast Episode 174: Beating Bristol
Sunday Nov 04, 2018
Sunday Nov 04, 2018
You can’t beat a win but you can ask some serious questions of how Reading got through their 3-2 triumph over Bristol City on Saturday, with the team still lodged inside the Championship relegation zone.
Two quickfire equalisers and a serious deficit in the battle for shots and possession meant it was far from a cruise at the Madejski Stadium, but at the very least the fans went home feeling pretty entertained throughout a breathless 90 minutes.
Chewing over all the goings on in this week’s edition of The Tilehurst End podcast are Marc Mayo and Simeon ‘BucksRoyal’ Pickup, who answer your questions in the mailbag, preview the upcoming clash with lowly Ipswich, and debate the state of the league as a whole in pubchat. Also, apologies for the minor problems with audio quality this week as our connection drifted in and out of position worse than Simon Church.

Two tough trips awaited Reading FC at the start of the week and, here we are, two games lighter and no points heavier after defeats in Birmingham and Swansea.
Paul Clement’s grip on his position as manager is looking ever-more tenuous and, in The Tilehurst End podcast No. 173, Marc Mayo and Olly Allen discuss what went wrong with the defence leaky and attack flaky on the road. This week’s show also covers the major news around the Royals, answers your mailbag questions, and looks ahead to the weekend clash with Bristol City.

Tuesday Oct 23, 2018
If you only look at the scoreline, Reading’s win over Millwall marks a significant moment in the Royals’ push away from relegation trouble — with the comfort of a two-goal cushion to boot.
However, as Marc Mayo and Alan ‘Westy’ West discuss in Episode 172 of The Tilehurst End podcast, there were a few issues to consider before anyone could leave the Mad Stad too satisfied on Saturday afternoon.
In this week’s show, we also answer your questions in the mailbag, preview two tricky away trips on the horizon, and pick their favourite XI from the current squad and the ill-fated Brendan Rodgers campaign of 2009/10.
