Jem Karacan Interview Part 2
Saturday Dec 31, 2016
Saturday Dec 31, 2016
We continue our talk with former Reading Captain Jem Karacan as he covers the pride he felt playing in the Premier League for the club and what went wrong to cost Brian McDermott his job the team their place in the top division. Jem talks about why he'll always respect Nigel Adkins, how Royston Drenthe was around the training ground and about the injury he picked up against Leeds that almost cost him his entire career.
We discuss just why it took so long for Jem to come back, how he nearly left the club on loan and the just why he ended up moving on to Galatasaray. There's also a brief look at the state of the team right now and what the future might hold for Karacan on and off the field, including the question of whether he'd come back to Reading one day if given the chance.
All that and plenty more in part 2, while if you missed part 1 you can check it out here.
A big thanks to Jem for his time giving us this interview and we all wish him the best of success in the rest of his career

Jem Karacan Interview - Part 1
Saturday Dec 24, 2016
Saturday Dec 24, 2016
In the first of a special two-part interview, former Reading midifelder Jem Karacan joins us to give his story, starting from his days in the Wimbledon youth system, trialling with Manchester United and how he nearly ended up somewhere different to the Madejski Stadium.
From there we talk through his loan moves to Millwall & Bournemouth, including the first thing a Millwall fan chanted at him, whether he'd advise other players to move on loan and just why his Academy class including Alex Pearce, Hal Robson-Kanu & Gylfi Sigurdsson were so special.
Jem also shares some of his favourite memories of the late Eamonn Dolan, and why he was able to inspire so many young players.
There's also talk of his breakthrough under Steve Coppell, why the team loved training under Brendan Rodgers and whether he felt Brendan had lost the dressing room by the time of his sacking in December 2009. We also cover how Jem was nearly sold to Besiktas, a full six years before he eventually left for Turkey.
Brian McDermott's reign is also covered, from the highs of Cardiff to the lows of losing at Wembley and just what the Reading gaffer said to Jem and the players at half-time against Swansea. We also discuss the promotion season of 2011/12, Jem being taken out by Leeds and how he ended up in the Reading dressing room to celebrate promotion just hours after major surgery.
That's just some of what you can expect in part 1, with plenty more to come in part 2.

Episode 109: Fulham Foul Up
Tuesday Dec 06, 2016
Tuesday Dec 06, 2016
From the highs of fives wins in a row, we've had the low of a five-nil humping at Fulham to deal with. This week's TTE Podcast tries to figure out what went wrong and whether this was a blip or the sign of more pain to come.
Wimb and Handbags Harris are joined by Roger Titford from the Supporters' Trust At Reading to talk about his new book 'The Lost Years of Reading FC', looking at the very early years of the football club and how Reading outlasted plenty of other local teams in the area to become top dogs in Berkshire. You can pick up a copy yourself from the STAR base, the club Megastore or online here.
All that plus we field your questions in the mailbag and look ahead to Saturday's game with Sheffield Wednesday.
A quick editorial note about the quality of audio, it's a bit more unprofessional than usual due to us testing out some new equipment, but we'll get back on the straight(er) and narrow next week.
